How do I receive and complete my Noom Biomarkers Test Kit?
- Only certain Noom subscriptions include a Biomarkers test kit. We plan to make the test kit available as a separate add-on or one-time purchase in the future.
- Please note that your return sample will be shipped to the lab via Fedex.
Where can I find the nearest FedEx drop-off?
You can find the nearest FedEx location here: https://local.fedex.com/en-us. You can ship your sample with the included prepaid label at any FedEx drop off location, including select Dollar General and Walgreens stores.
How often will I receive a Noom Biomarkers Test Kit?
Our current subscription offers a new test kit every 16 weeks (3 tests per year) so you can track improvements to your health over time. In the future we plan to offer more flexibility to purchase kits on different intervals.
What biomarkers are included in the test?
The following are included in your Noom Biomarkers Test Kit:
- High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP)
- Hemoglobin A1C
- Fasting lipid panel (Triglycerides, LDL-C, HDL-C, total cholesterol)
- Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)]
- Apolipoprotein B (ApoB)
- DHEA-sulfate (DHEA-S)
- 25-hydroxy vitamin D (vitamin D)
- Vitamin B12
- Estradiol (E2)
- Total testosterone
- Luteinizing hormone (LH)
Please note: Lp(a) is only tested once, with the first test kit you receive. The list of biomarkers tested may be changed at Noom’s discretion, from time to time. You may receive partial results. The quality of the sample received by the lab will determine if they are able to test all biomarkers. The best way to maximize the quality of your sample and your results is to fill the sample tube to the top line and ship it back the same day, ideally Monday-Thursday.
What is the Tasso+ device and how does it work?
The Tasso+ is a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared lancet designed for virtually painless blood collection. The device sticks to the skin with a light adhesive. When you press the button, a vacuum forms and a lancet pricks the surface of the skin. The vacuum draws blood out of the capillaries and into a small container. The small cut made by the device typically heals within 2 weeks. A small bandage is included for use after collecting your sample.
Are there any contraindications to using the Tasso+ device?
See the Tasso+ Blood Sample Collection Instructions pamphlet included in your kit for complete information about the device, including Warnings and Precautions. If you have a medical concern, talk to your doctor before use.
Sample collection
Why do I need to ship my sample the same day I collect it?
Blood samples degrade over time, and this can affect their ability to provide complete results. Dropping it off the same day, ideally Monday through Thursday, means less time in transit.
What should I do if I can’t get the included heat pack to activate?
- First, try popping the metal disk multiple times. Sometimes, it takes several pops to activate. If that doesn’t work, you can soak a washcloth in warm (not scalding) tap water and apply it to the area for 5 minutes instead of using the included heat pack.
- Please also email support@noom.com to let us know about the issue. Include whether or not you were able to successfully collect and ship your sample, or if a replacement kit is needed.
What should I do if the label on the sample tube covers the fill lines?
The label is applied so that the fill lines are visible. If you need to, you can carefully peel off the label to expose the fill lines, then press it back down after you collect your sample. If the label will not re-adhere, write your date of birth on it anyway and return it in the same bag with your sample tube.
What should I do if there isn’t enough space on the label to fill in my date of birth?
You may use any white space on the label to add your date of birth, even if you can’t fit it in the space provided. The QR code on the label is also linked to your Noom profile, but the lab prefers to also have a written date of birth for verification purposes.
I forgot to fill in the label(s) on my kit before shipping it back.
Contact support@noom.com and let us know that you shipped the kit back without filling in one or both labels. The unique ID number on the kit is preregistered to you, so we can verify your information with the lab and ask that they process your sample anyway.
What should I do if I’m unable to fill the tube all the way to the top line after 5 minutes?
If there is blood in the tube, follow the next steps in the instructions to return the sample.
What should I do if there is no blood in the tube after 5 minutes?
Remove the device and discard it. Follow the instructions for placing gauze on the collection site and applying a bandage. Then, email support@noom.com for further help.
How long can I wait between receiving my test kit and completing it?
- We recommend completing your kit as soon as possible after receiving it (between Monday and Thursday) so that you can establish your baseline and track your progress.
- Each kit has an expiration date, which may be found on a sticker outside the box. If you have questions, email support@noom.com and include the Kit ID from the label.
Lab tests and values
What happens if my sample cannot be tested?
If there’s an issue with the sample you submitted, the lab will reach out to Noom’s Support Team directly. From there, Noom will either correct the issue on your behalf or reach out to you with next steps. If applicable, Noom’s Support Team will order a replacement kit that will be shipped to your shipping address on file.
How long does it take to receive my test kit results?
Once the lab has received your sample, it takes about a week to receive results in the Noom app.
Who should I talk to if I have questions about my results?
If you have a concern, it’s important to talk to your doctor. If you have a Noom Med subscription, you can also send questions to your Noom Med clinician via the message center in the Noom app.
Payment
Is insurance required?
No. The cost of the Noom Biomarkers Test Kit is included in certain Noom subscriptions.
I don’t want to use my test kit, can I get a discount on my subscription?
There is no discount or refund for unused kits. If your subscription includes the test kit but you don’t want to use it, you can discard it, or use it at a later date. Each test kit has an expiration date printed on it and is valid until that date.
Note: At this time, test kits are non-transferable (they are preregistered to your account).
