Imagine the best version of yourself. You look great, you feel fantastic, and you have the confidence to take on the world! Does that sound slightly different from how you feel today? Confidence in yourself, no matter how old you are, is how you can overcome personal challenges and achieve your wildest dreams! If you don’t feel like you are living your best life right now, maybe you need more confidence in yourself! Here are three simple (but not always easy!) techniques to try when you need to boost your self-confidence:
1. Shift your mindset
When you want to feel your best, the biggest barrier isn’t the lack of time or money. It has nothing to do with how crazy work is, or how demanding family can get. All too often, when you struggle to feel confident, it is because your internal dialogue is set to negative.
Turn that dial up, my friend! It’s time to challenge that negative self-talk and replace it with something more positive. Next time you hear yourself saying unkind or negative things about yourself, stop and ask if what you are saying is true. Would your loved ones say the same things about you? Probably not!
Adopting a more positive and loving relationship with yourself can boost your self-esteem and create a more confident attitude. Practice daily affirmations that align with your goals. Try to express gratitude regularly and focus on appreciating all the wonderful reasons that you are the amazing person you are today!
2. Practice regular self-care
Self-care looks different to everyone. In the purest and simplest of terms, self-care is the actions you take to maintain or improve your health and well-being. It is nearly impossible to feel confident about yourself if you don’t feel good physically, mentally or emotionally.
For some, self-care is found in the food they eat and the time they spend at the gym. For others, it is a good book or a monthly massage. Whether your self-care routine is done at home or at the beach, it is crucial to make yourself a priority. While this may seem impossible some days, keep in mind that you cannot pour from an empty cup! When you feel good about yourself, you will find that it is easier to do almost everything else.
3. Get to know yourself better
Nobody knows you like you do. However, it can be difficult to feel confident about yourself if you don’t make the time to enjoy the things that you are passionate about. Your likes and dislikes change as you grow and move through the phases of life. Unfortunately, we can often push our hobbies and happiness to the back-burner.
When you make the effort to look inward and think about what you want and need to feel fulfilled, you can create opportunities to build your self-confidence. It is up to you, and only you, to explore your personal interests (new and old!). Invest in a life that is meaningful to you. I promise, you are worth the effort!
