How to use HRT medications

Follow our step-by-step guides on how to properly use the HRT medications included in your Noom + HRTRx plan.

Estradiol
Patch

Our estrogen patch is a small adhesive patch that works by delivering hormones through your skin and straight into your bloodstream. The hormones in the patch are bioidentical, which means they’re molecularly the same as ones your body naturally produces.

  1. Choose your site

Apply to clean, dry skin on the lower abdomen, buttocks, or outer thigh.

Avoid the breasts and areas with cuts, irritation, or oily skin.

  2. Prepare the skin

Do not use lotions, powders, or oils before application.
  3. Apply the patch

Remove the backing and press the patch firmly for about 10 seconds.
  4. Change as directed

Replace the patch as directed on your prescription label. Rotating application sites can help avoid skin irritation.

Estrogen
Body Cream

Our estrogen cream is a bi-est estrogen cream, meaning it contains two types of estrogen: estradiol and estriol. By combining both a stronger estrogen (estradiol), and a less potent form (estriol), the aim is to provide an effective treatment with a lower risk of side-effects than with estradiol alone. The hormones used are bioidentical forms of natural estrogens, which means they are molecularly the same as hormones naturally produced by the body.

  1. Choose your site

Apply to hairless areas like your inner thighs or forearms. The inner length of one or both forearms is a good choice. Do not use lotions, powders, or oils before application. Consider applying after a shower when your skin is clean and ready to absorb the medication.

  2. Dispense the cream

Turn the base of the container to dispense the product the desired number of times, as prescribed. You will hear a ‘click’ with each turn.

  3. Apply the cream

Use the device to rub cream into the skin. Rotate sites if you develop any irritation over time.

Compounded medications are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, efficacy or quality.

Progesterone
Pill

Our progesterone pill contains micronized progesterone, a bioidentical hormone that is molecularly the same as the progesterone produced by the ovaries before menopause. Micronized progesterone balances the effects of estrogen on your uterus and helps maintain overall hormonal balance.

  1. Follow the prescribed dose

Take the pill at bedtime, as close to the same time as possible each day. This medication may increase drowsiness.

  2. Swallow whole

Do not crush or chew the pill.

Note: Only patients with a uterus are prescribed progesterone because it serves specifically to protect the lining of the uterus during treatment. Progesterone has been shown to significantly reduce the risk of serious side effects related to the uterus.

  3. Missed dose

If you miss a dose, it’s generally best to skip the missed dose and resume your usual schedule the next evening.
